You will never know the value of time unless you run out of it.
Time is our most valuable asset, much more than money or any possession. Once you lost it, you can never bring it back. That realization mostly doesn’t come with a happy ending, but almost always regret. To avoid that, you should not just spend your time doing anything you want, but rather invest it properly.
The difference?
When you spend time, you are giving it away without expecting to get something in return. Investing, on the other hand, is the opposite. It is devoting yourself to something that will eventually bring you a meaningful reward.
How do you invest your time?
What is the purpose of investing your money? To build your wealth, right? Somehow that money you invested will grow, earn a higher return and be comfortable after retirement. You have a goal in mind. The same thing when it comes to investing your time.
The first thing you need to do is set your goals.
What do you want to achieve?
Do you plan on building your own business?
Do you want to grow in your career?
Do you wish to settle down?
Your goals will set the direction in which you are going to take and invest your time on. Until then, every second passed is just time wasted.
If you have already set a goal, time to act on it. That’s when the concept of properly investing your time comes. Let’s say you plan to build your own business. There are many things you need to consider before doing so. So, you invest your time in learning what you can about the industry. You research, you read, and you do things that will eventually bring you a bigger return.
No one can dictate how you will use your time but you. The time that you have now is precious. Nobody knows how long one’s time left here on earth, but you always have now. It is enough. Start investing your time now, not only in growing your finances but also in strengthening your faith and cultivating a deeper relationship with family and loved ones.
Do invest time for yourself as well or the rest will lose its value. Remember, you are your most profitable investment.
