If you are to rate your planning and organizing skills, where are you from 1 to 10? Have you been in control with your schedule or is your schedule controlling you? If you finally were able to be on top of your busy schedule, then keep up the good work. But, if you are still struggling in terms of planning and organizing your schedules, follow these rules to make your life easier and more organized.
Rules to follow to make planning and organizing schedules effectively
Prioritize
We probably have hundreds of things to do every day, from the major ones down to the minor things. If we can only do all of it at once, then our life would have been easier. However, it’s not possible, and multitasking doesn’t help at all.
If it comes to that, prioritizing is the best answer. Determine which task is more important than the other. That way, you can put all your attention to the most important ones, get it done quickly before proceeding to the next task on the list.
Time management
No matter how good you plan your schedule, if you don’t know how to manage your time well, then you are unlikely to succeed. Remember that we only have 24 hours each day, half of it should be intended for relaxation. You have to manage time effectively and productively, and you can do that by mastering time management.
Say no to distractions
This is something we have to deal with every day, either working in the office or working at home. There are just too many distractions around us; checking phones, social media, co-workers to name a few. Those things can affect the plan and time table you have set and can reduce your productivity level as well.
It isn’t healthy to just put your focus solely on work too. But, set time to check your phone, email and whatnot. Talk to workmates during break time and don’t ruin your schedule by doing unnecessary things.
Tip: You can do time blocking and spare a few minutes of your time to check and reply on emails, browse the internet, and check on your social media sites. You can also put it on your schedule so you won’t forget how long you can only focus on it.
